What’s the difference between gout and psuedogout? The cause of gout is excess uric acid in the body that may lead to crystals forming around various bodily joints which lead to inflammation and pain.
Psuedogout is similar to gout, but is caused by excess calcium in the blood-stream that may lead to calcium-crystal formation around joints.
Both diseases may lead to the same end results, but it’s understood they have different underlying causes. In particular, it’s thought psuedogout is not related to diet.
Comment:
I like the design, you have worked hard on this gout site. My gout was first diagnosed two years, after an initial diagnosis of psuedogout. Most people can't imagine how many this affects me, the pain is really bad sometimes. I never realised I had gout until I experienced big-toe swelling. Both of my uncles had gout so I think it’s in our family history. I’ll be back – great layout and easy to read. It is a joy to read such a site. Congratulations. Malcolm Bishop, UK
